On December 10th LISS was so honored to visit a wonderful non-profit organization, The Giving Doll New York in Ronkonkoma.
They are a group of about 300 volunteers made up of mostly retired women that meet every Thursday and make dolls for children in need. Every person there has a different job and at each table there is something different going on. One table is knitting the doll’s outfit, another table is cutting the patterns, and the other tables are stuffing the dolls, sewing their hair and assembling the dolls.
It’s a family atmosphere and these dolls are being shipped internationally to children who need some comfort. This organization works with so many different charities in need and they also work with some of our local hospitals to make dolls for children that are in the hospital long term. All of their materials are donated. We were so happy to be connected to this group and now because of their dedication and love for those in need the children on our medical mission trip will benefit as well.
