Dr. Abbasi is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He specializes in the non-operative care of neck and back disorders, as well as interventional pain management, electrodiagnostic medicine, and ultrasound and fluoroscopically guided injections.
He completed his residency at the acclaimed Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in New Jersey, where he served as chief resident. He then completed a Fellowship training at Beth Israel Medical Center in Orthopedic Spine and Sports medicine and Interventional Pain Management.
Dr. Abbasi has completed research in the fields of spine, sports, and electrodiagnostic medicine. He has authored publications, textbooks, including publishing in the journals Spine, Pain, Medicine, and PM&R. He also serves as a peer reviewer for several medical journals. He is committed to the latest technologies in the treatment of the spine and joints and continues to explore the newest advances in medical treatment of joint and tendon injuries with a special interest in Regenerative medicine, including PRP* and Stem Cell* Injections.
Dr. Abbasi believes in an integrated approach to diagnosing and treating illness to determine the right care and treatment options for his patients.
*PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and Stem Cell injections are currently considered experimental treatments though laboratory studies have shown that the increased concentration of growth factors, particularly in PRP, can potentially speed up the healing process.
